Kalyana Karnataka Development Board(KKRDB)

The Kalyana Karnataka Development Board (KKRDB) is a government body established by the Government of Karnataka with the aim of promoting holistic development and addressing the socio-economic disparities in the Kalyana Karnataka region, also known as the Hyderabad-Karnataka region. The board was created under the provisions of Article 371(J) of the Indian Constitution to accelerate the overall growth and welfare of the region.

KKRDB functions as an apex body responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing various development programs and initiatives aimed at uplifting the six districts comprising the Kalyana Karnataka region, namely Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, and Ballari. The board focuses on key sectors such as infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture, employment generation, and social welfare.

One of the primary objectives of KKRDB is to bridge the development gap between the Kalyana Karnataka region and other parts of the state by channeling resources and investments towards priority areas. The board works closely with various government departments, local authorities, and stakeholders to identify the specific needs and challenges of the region and devise targeted strategies for sustainable development.

KKRDB also plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective implementation and monitoring of centrally sponsored schemes and projects in the Kalyana Karnataka region. It facilitates coordination among different agencies and stakeholders to ensure optimal utilization of resources and timely completion of development initiatives.

The Details of the Board are as follows:

Establishment: The Hyderabad Karnataka Region Development Board was established on 06.11.2013 and renamed as Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board on 07.09.2019

Jurisdiction: The jurisdiction of the Board is spread over 42 assembly constituencies (after the recent delimitation of constituencies) of Bidar, Bellary, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur and Yadgir districts.

Members

1. All the district Charge ministers of the K.K region will be the members and one of the Ministers in charge of Districts in the region will be nominated by the State Government as the chairman.

2. Eight members of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly representing the region for a period of one year by rotation as nominated by the State Government.

3. Two members of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly representing the region for a period of one year by rotation as nominated by the State Government.

4. One member of Parliament representing a part or whole of the K.K region whose constituencies lie within the jurisdiction of the Board for the period of one year by rotation nominated by state Govt.

5. One of the Adhyakshas of the Z.P. of Bellary, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Raichur, and Yadgir districts for a period of one year by rotation as nominated by the State Government.

6. One of the Presidents/Mayor of the Urban Local body coming within the area for a period of one year by rotation as nominated by the State Government.

7. Five members nominated by the State Government one each who are expert in the following fields, namely:-

1) Planning process of state

2) Financial Matters and accounts of state

3) Irrigation and public works

4) Agriculture and Industry and

5) Education and Employment

8. The Regional Commissioners of Kalaburagi Revenue Region; Ex-Officio Member

9. The Secretary to Government in-charge of the Planning Department; Ex-Officio Member

10. The Secretary to Government in-charge of Finance; Ex-Officio Member

11. The Secretary of the Board,Member Secretary
